Sculpturettes
Note

Wonder what the sculpurettes are and how they differ from regular sculptures? Basically, it's all about the relationship between an artist and his material.
Take Michelangelo, for example. First, he sketched the subject. Then, he made a small statue, a Davidonchik. After that, he toured the quarries searching for the appropriate piece or marble. Finally, he produced a full-scale version, the David. Michelangelo's vision formed the product.
In contrast, I turned the whole process upside down. First, I grab all kinds of driftwood washed ashore by the sea. Then, I pick up some pieces and combine them together, as they whisper to me what form they wish to be part of. Finally, I polish and lacquer the product, if needed. So, the material itself dictates to a humble artist its appearance and final form.
