Driftwood Art
I'm neither a garbage collector, or a recycler, or a coast cleanup volunteer. But I do collect the wood trash and detritus of civilization that the sea has kindly washed ashore.
I'm neither a carpenter, nor a joiner, nor a sculptor. But I do combine wood waste with the detritus of civilization to make a figure of artistic merit—a sculpturette.
I haven't yet decided what I fancy more: producing art or consuming it, hiding or displaying, selling or giving away.
But I do like the entire process, from chasing the right pieces on the sea shore, through cutting and screwing the fitting parts together, to lacquering and exhibiting the sculpturettes, and writing down their stories.
